Miss Evers' Boys' Staged Reading Recap

Miss Evers' Boys Staged Reading Recap
On March 19, the UCLA Simulation Center Standardized Patient Program in partnership with the Cultural North Star Awards produced a staged reading of Miss Evers’ Boys, a historical drama highlighting the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment that examines ethics, race, and medical history in 1930s America. The afternoon performance which took place at the Sunset Village Northwest Auditorium for the MS4 class, faculty, and staff was followed by educational small group discussions on ethics and medicine. Some cast members joined the conversations. The evening performance included a talkback discussion with cast members speaking on the themes of the play and taking questions from the audience. Audience members said the powerful performance and talkback raised awareness of this moment in American medical history and expressed that it was a valuable addition to the curriculum that they hope will continue.
