Workshop 2 - Prompt Engineering for AI Simulations

Date: March 13, 2026
Time: 12pm - 1pm
Zoom: Enroll in Course for Zoom Link

This second workshop in the UCLA Simulation Center AI Simulation workshop series covers an agile design process for developing and refining an AI simulation scenario prompt, highlighting practical strategies for shaping AI behavior, improving prompts through testing and iteration, aligning character responses with learning objectives, and implementing advanced features like AI-generated post-simulation performance feedback. Participants will learn common limitations with AI driven simulations, troubleshooting methods, and mitigation strategies. Participants will gain hands-on experience in testing AI simulations using a wide variety of tools, from campus-approved LLMs to more advanced third party AI technologies that simulate voice and video calls.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Apply an agile design process to iteratively prototype, test, and improve AI simulations.
  • Identify common limitations of AI-driven simulations and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Refine AI roleplay prompts to better align character responses with your learning objectives.
  • Evaluate advanced AI simulation features, including AI-generated performance feedback, across multiple platforms.
